{"id":4869,"date":"2026-02-16T19:34:47","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T18:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/t-w-b.org\/?p=4869"},"modified":"2026-03-05T21:55:37","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T20:55:37","slug":"reiner-engelmann","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/t-w-b.org\/en\/2026\/02\/reiner-engelmann\/","title":{"rendered":"Reiner Engelmann"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are very happy to welcome Reiner Engelmann as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lehrerohnegrenzen.com\/2026\/02\/16\/reiner-engelmann-neuer-vereins-botschafter\/\" target=\"_blank\">musical reading<\/a> to win over as a club ambassador in Wilhelmshaven.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/reiner-engelmann.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">Reiner Engelmann<\/a> After studying social pedagogy, he worked for 35 years in the public school system at a special needs school, where he was particularly dedicated to reading promotion, violence prevention, and children's and human rights education. The curriculum was not at the center of his work, but rather the questions and problems that the students had and for which they sought answers. \u201eHuman development\u201c was always a central concern for him, especially in the type of school in which he worked.<\/p>\n<p>As a teenager, he joined Amnesty International and advocated for human rights. He is still active in this organization today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eRemembering for the Future\u201c is his internal headline for his literary engagement with the Holocaust. During numerous study trips to Auschwitz, he met and wrote about survivors of the camp. They all urge us to oppose any form of exclusion, xenophobia, and right-wing populist tendencies. Compassion and charity must be stronger than power and oppression, Mr. Engelmann also advocates at his readings.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I was very pleased to be appointed Ambassador for the \u201eTeachers Without Borders\u201c association. I have been committed to the right to education worldwide since I became a member of Amnesty International. Education in countries where school attendance for children is not a given has always been and continues to be a goal that I have worked towards. Good education is a fundamental prerequisite for a good future for children. This applies universally. When we look at countries in Europe with a democratic character, but also at the USA, we unfortunately have to note that right-wing populist ideas are spreading, and there is a danger that such parties could come to power again. Therefore, education in the sense of enlightenment takes on increased importance.
